i aten’t dead

Filed under: Uncategorized — morineko @ 8:27 am

Only sleeping (or depressed, or busy, all very personal things not fit for this blog)

The reason I haven’t been card or paper blogging is because of those things above, and for the simple fact that I haven’t had time to even organize the few cards that I’ve bought. I’ve also been moving (the address, for those of you who have it, is the same) so that explains some of it.

I’ll be back soonish. I’ve been reading everyone’s blogs, just not commenting much.

Doctor Who, rocking your trading card sets

Filed under: Uncategorized — morineko @ 10:50 pm

Since I have nothing else to post, here’s someone else’s blog with a few scans of old Doctor Who trading cards.

the potential for epically bad luck

Filed under: Uncategorized — morineko @ 2:09 pm

According to this post there indeed is a Craig Counsell card in 2009 Topps! This gives me a reason to buy it!

…except for the fact that I’m waiting on some not so good news, and I think my purchases of 2009 sports cards will be limited to the one pack of ’09 Topps I bought when I went to Target on Sunday to replenish the household facial tissue supply. More news tomorrow.

further update

Filed under: Uncategorized — morineko @ 11:27 pm

I didn’t realize that it’s been over a month since I’ve updated. Once again, if you’ve mailed me about trades, I’ll get back to you when I can. Unfortunately there are a lot of issues going on at home and with me personally that I don’t feel are appropriate for going over in a ballcard blog. I’ll be back to active blogging as soon as possible, I promise. There are a lot of things I’d like to say (and that end of year meme from Dinged Corners was one of them, and I don’t care if I end up answering it in February, I’ll do it.)

mail update

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: — morineko @ 1:17 pm

My Internet service (and telephone) have been out at home for about a week. I know, from now being able to log in to wordpress.com, people have sent me mails. However, I cannot answer them because the library is blocking the port on my webmail. (“What? This isn’t port 80?! Block! Block!) Since I can’t check it at work due to port block, I can’t answer back either when I’m back to work. I have no idea when the problem will be fixed as it’s an area outage. In any case, if you’ve sent me a mail about trades, I’ll get back to you as soon as it is possible.

There are a few packages that I’ve received, and I need to send things out and thank goodness I have the packages so I can get the return addresses off them–yes, I didn’t save addresses so they’re hanging out on the webmail. The mail I can’t get to.

no card post for today

Filed under: Uncategorized — morineko @ 9:16 pm

Bit of a family crisis here, so no time to think about cards. I’m sitting here watching my 1987 World Series DVDs to destress. Joe Magrane reminds me of Todd Wellemeyer, except for the pitching left-handed bit. There were a lot more creative sheet signs back in the 1980s. Also, back then catchers were apparently not supposed to be able to hit. Someone tell Jason Varitek to find himself a time machine.

why I haven’t been posting

Filed under: Uncategorized — morineko @ 6:20 pm

1) My scanner broke, preventing me from making the sorts of posts I’d like to make (postcard and ephemera scans, baseball card scans with snarky comments.)

2) I only recently started buying baseball cards again. (Yeah, I got on the Allen & Ginter bandwagon, only due to the presence of the Seth McClung insert, which of course I haven’t got yet–but I did end up with the Curt Schilling base card and state insert. Yay?)

3) I feel guilty about not getting back to people about trades. If you’ve contacted me in the last six months, the cards I’ve put aside are NOT going away and I will contact you soon once I have everything else sorted out.

4) Real life is sucking like a commercial-quality Hoover.

Once I get the scanner issue sorted out, I should have some quality posts. Someday. No, I’m not going to ask for donations, especially because I haven’t blogged in months.

packaging reuse tip

Filed under: Uncategorized — morineko @ 12:41 am

Did you know that the old size of blaster boxes is just slightly bigger than the height and length of a mass-market paperback book? You can fit paperbacks inside of an empty blaster box and use it to ship books instead of envelopes!

Now, of course, I wish I hadn’t recycled about 8 blaster boxes instead of saving them to reuse as packaging for other items.
